QIBS Data Recovery Centre has successfully recovered many external hard disk drive failures. The
majority of the hard disk failures are as a result of board failure or damage
due to knocks and bumps.
External hard disks have become very popular due to the low
price and convenience. However, within the casing is a hard disk
identical to those found in Desktops and Laptops. Many manufacturers
have added a little protection against knocking and bumping but in
most cases it doesn't protect the hard disk sufficiently.
External Hard Drives fail in a similar
way to Desktop PC's or Laptops. The Hard disk may start
to behave erratically, sometimes retrieving data very slowly,
sometimes freezing and occasionally crashing. The disk drive
could become noisy or stop spinning completely. The hard
disk may issue a variety of error messages or be unable
to read files that have been damaged. If you experience
any of these symptoms your hard disk may be about to fail.
Some failures are sudden and unexpected. These types of
failure may be due to the board failing. Most external hard drives have small
boards inside that adapt a standard PC for connection via a USB. This type
of external hard disk failure is also very common.
As specialist we have encounted these problems on many occasions and have a very high
success rate in recovering data from external hard drives that fail in this way.
